Fall is the season where everyone gathers together to celebrate traditions such as hayrides, fruit picking, and fresh apple cider.
Giamarese Farm and orchards in East Brunswick is a family owned and operated farm since 1941. The farm includes pick- your-own strawberries, peas, and spring greens from late May through June. Pick-your-own peaches and nectarines from July through September. Apple picking is available through late august through Columbus day. Pick-your -own Pumpkins are around for September and October. Lastly, fall greens and Christmas trees are ready for November through Christmas Eve.
When arriving upon the farm, you will be directed to a parking space in the grass, out to the left of the activities. In the parking lot, there are wagons in random places occupying possible parking opportunities. The walk to the festivities depending on where you a park, can be a bit long. Although that sounds as though you can easily park right up front, you can not. The farm has a fresh farmers market, with apple cider, fruits and vegetables, as well as snacks and cold drinks in a can. Pies, and pastries are for sale outside of the market in an open barn. Across from the barn is a wide arrangement of pop up stands selling lemonade, face painting, fried oreos, and empanadas.
When picking fruits, I recommend going earlier in the season, as the pumpkins in the beginning of October were already starting to become mushy and weak. But some were standing, and in good shape. The apples, while piles were on the ground under the trees, a great portion was still on the trees easily ready to take. The hayride, I found to be a bit expensive as it was ten dollars per individual. But at the same time, it also was an admission fee to the little corn maze halfway through the hayride. All in all, I found this farm to be nice for younger kids, but for people looking for all of the full fall festivities, I feel as though I did not get that experience out of it.
